CSS Zengarden is 10 years old, wow!

07/05/2013 No Comments

Wow, this takes my back to my early days of refining my web skills, learning coding and joining the web community in promoting CSS ~ how time flies… from those days, I will forever remember Dave Shea and Molly Holzschlag, alongside many others, and thank them for guiding my path into web standards and the beauty of CSS :)

In his blog post “10 Years” – Dave revives this concept, asking for new submissions to now work with more advanced designs – exciting & fun!!! :) Who wouldn’t want to contribute to this…

Landfill Harmonic

16/12/2012 4 Comments

In a town that is built on a landfill, where life seems to revolve around the trash that is hauled in daily, the children of Cateura, Paraguay are providing the world with a little perspective, and a lot of hope.

The ‘Recycled Orchestra’ is an orchestra of schoolchildren in Paraguay who perform on instruments created from the trash piled in the landfill around them. With most of the residents of Cateura working at the landfill, including many of the children, there was little else that the town could offer the young people. Favio Chavez, an ecological technician at the site, wanted to change that by providing something more for the children.

What a truly inspirational story! Make sure to check out the project's page on the Creative Visions Foundation site.
