Basically?
Upload a 24-bit PNG with alpha transparency and get back an 8-bit PNG also with alpha transparency.

What ‘n’ why?
PNGs, alpha transparency and small file sizes are all good. After reading this article, I was inspired to squish all three of them together into a nice, friendly web service. Photoshop can’t make 8-bit + alpha PNGs and sometimes you just don’t want to open (or don’t have) Fireworks so this site fills the gap.

PNG fix for IE

While you’re working on your hacks – there will be one issue which might need an extra helping hand – the transparencies, mainly in PNGs for IE6 and earlier.
Your fix approach will of course be to create GIFs to replace the PNGs – this is an ideal fix, easily implemented and will work in all situations. With certain design elements however, you might need to make use of one of the fixes listed below. Make sure to read all documentation carefully and weigh up the pros and cons – bearing in mind that these will rely on enabled Javascript on the user machine.
